What is Scalp Micropigmentation for scarring?

Scars on the scalp can occur for many reasons. You may have recently undergone a hair transplant, experienced a trauma to the head or had a recent surgery that left an unsightly scar behind. Regardless, some scarring can cause an emotional trigger and despite not wanting them to, people are likely to stare, which can cause us to be left feeling self-conscious.

Two types of hair transplants can leave behind two very different scars:

  • FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) – This will leave a strip-like scar across the side or back of your head.
  • FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) – This will leave small circular scars across your scalp where the donor hair has been extracted from.

Scalp micropigmentation (also commonly known as a hair tattoo) will be able to help camouflage these scars and blend them in with your natural hair.

how can coastline smp help you?

At Coastline SMP, we can help your scarring appear entirely non-existent.
Through scalp micropigmentation, we will implant a natural pigment onto the scar tissue, which will allow it to blend in with the existing hair. The treatment area will extend beyond the scarring to achieve that effective blend, usually only 1-2cm above and below the scarred area. As the needle is so tiny, it can replicate a single hair follicle, starting to create the illusion of a full head of hair. You will never need to feel self-conscious of any scarring or marking on your scalp again.
